ANNOUNCING THE APPOINTMENT OF THE CANADIAN BAPTIST NATIONAL CONVENOR
The Canadian Baptist Partners are delighted to announce the appointment of Rev. Dr. Harry Gardner as their inaugural National Convenor. In this significant role, Rev. Dr. Gardner will facilitate collaboration among the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, French Baptist Union, Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, Canadian Baptists of Western Canada, Canadian Baptist Ministries, along with other key stakeholders and affiliates.
As National Convenor, Rev. Dr. Gardner will play a pivotal role in coordinating national gatherings within the Canadian Baptist community working closely with the Executive Ministers/Directors of the Canadian Baptist Partners. The National Convenor’s primary responsibility is to glorify God and advance the Gospel mission of the Canadian Baptist family by supporting, championing, and advocating for the vision and missions of the Partners, and the five key objectives as stated in the new Crieff Commitment. Rev. Dr. Gardner expressed his enthusiasm for this new position saying he is “drawn into the hopes of what could be achieved together, while celebrating the present realities of mutuality among the partners.”
Currently serving as President Emeritus at Acadia Divinity College, Rev. Dr. Gardner also has a rich history of leadership as a pastor, Executive Minister of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, and Vice President of the Baptist World Alliance. Over the past 40 years, Harry has preached and taught extensively in Canada and around the world.
Harry and his wife of 50 years, Gail, make Kentville, Nova Scotia their home. Together they have two children, Rebecca (Jonathan) and Adrian (Nicole) and four grandchildren Elijah, Grace, Ethan, and Winston.
