A gathering to inspire, equip, and connect CBAC churches for hope-filled justice in their communities.
The year’s theme is “The Radical Hospitality of Jesus.” We’ll be exploring what it looks like to cultivate cultures of belonging, inclusion, equity, and diversity.
On Friday, November 6, from 9:00-4:00 pm, we’ll be joined by Dorothy Pang, Director of Intercultural Ministries at Tyndale Seminary, for a full-day, practical seminar designed especially for pastors and point-leaders. She’ll help us contextualize the practice of radical hospitality for our unique ministry settings.
Throughout the rest of the event, Daniel Yang, Senior Director of Global Mission and Church Movements at World Relief, will help us think about migration, immigration, belonging and the future of the church. We’ll also have six unique workshops on topics ranging from increasing DEI in church staff and boards, to disability and ableism, and more. And, as always, we’ll build in time for groups to reflect, discern, and plan together.

Workshops
9:30am
Dr. Késa Munroe-Anderson, EBC: The Meeting Place
During this session, we will explore the following questions: How can my church’s leadership, board, and staff reflect its membership from the pulpit to the pews as well as the diverse community it serves? Why are the concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusion critical to the intentional recruitment of church boards, staff, and ministry leaders in a way that exemplifies the radical hospitality of Jesus? What is our Christian duty to affirm the mutual humanity and giftings of God in all people of our church community, creating access for our churches to each be a healthy functioning body of Christ?
Jodi Spargur, Red Clover
What is our role and responsibility in the work of Indigenous/church reconciliation? What more can be done? What if we feel stuck in terms of next steps? This workshop will look at these questions and the witness of Luke for models of just action in situations of harm, no matter who did the harm.
Rev. Dan Pyke, CBAC NextGen
Many young people navigating gender identity carry real distress and wonder whether there's a place for them in the church. How do church leaders respond with both conviction and compassion? This workshop briefly explores the current landscape, then considers a ministry posture rooted in grace and truth: offering each person an identity as God's beloved, practicing hospitality, and walking alongside youth and their families. We'll close by working through practical questions churches are facing today.
11:00am
Dr. Dorothy Pang, Tyndale Intercultural Ministries Centre
In Canada’s multicultural reality, the church is the visible expression of the Gospel where “every tribe, tongue and nation” experience unity-in-diversity through the Spirit. In this highly interactive workshop, participants will explore how their own cultural lens shapes expectations, practices, and interactions. The workshop introduces a developmental framework for growing in intercultural understanding and equips leaders to move beyond welcome and towards belonging. Participants will leave with practical tools for engaging cultural differences and co-creating belonging.
Atlantic Baptist Women + CBAC NextGen
This guided discussion invites youth to gather around issues of justice that impact our communities and world. Hosted by Atlantic Baptist Women and CBAC NextGen, this workshop is intended to spark meaningful conversation, encourage new connections, and help participants discern opportunities for ongoing engagement beyond the Justice Summit.
