New Director of Youth & Family Ministries

December 2, 2013

Renee EmbreeWe are excited to announce that Rev. Renée Embree has been approved by CABC Council to be the new Director of Youth and Family Ministries for the CABC effective February 1, 2014.

Renée has a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Arts (Theology) from Acadia Divinity College and is a graduate of the Arrow Leadership program. She comes to us with leadership experience with children, youth, young adult and family ministry in the local church, along with a strong history of developing leaders.

Renée ran into God’s grace as a young adult and continues to be changed by that grace every day. She has a passion to see people of all ages transformed by Jesus and leading the way in overflowing with God’s love in our world.

Renée has spent the last five and half years living out this passion as the Associate Pastor at RiverCross Church (formerly Main Street Baptist Church) in Saint John, NB. Prior to that she served at North and South Alton Baptist in Nova Scotia, as well as a small church in Scotland.

Renée enthusiastically says “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with those across our region to see our children, youth, young adults and families thrive for God’s Kingdom.” She has also worked closely with the Youth & Family Department over the years.

“I am very appreciative of the careful, prayerful work of the Search Committee, and together we unanimously recommended the appointment of Renée Embree as the new Director of Youth and Family Ministries,” says Dr. Peter Reid, CABC Executive Minister.  “Council unanimously endorsed the recommendation and I believe she brings the vision, giftedness and pastoral experience to provide forward thinking leadership and impact children, youth and young adults in this new era of ministry in the CABC family.”

Please pray for Renée as she transitions and gives leadership and vision to our children’s, youth and family ministries.

According to our General Operating Bylaw, all Senior Staff positions must be ratified by the member churches of the CABC (Section 6). Normally we would wait until Oasis in August to vote but we are using a provision in the Bylaw – Section 6.03(d)(ii) – that allows churches to vote on Senior Staff and then submit the church’s vote in writing to the Executive Minister. In the next couple of weeks each church will receive a letter outlining the process and deadline to submit their vote. In order for it to pass, a 75% affirmative vote is required from reporting member churches.
