Crandall University

The Board of Governors of Crandall University has announced that Andrew K. Hopper is being appointed President of Crandall University for an interim period beginning
January 1, 2012.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Chairman Greg Cook stated “We believe Mr. Hopper has the administrative experience and understanding of Crandall’s unique nature, and position within the post-secondary marketplace, to help further its progress in the coming months.” The interim period is anticipated to be at least one year.

Hopper has most recently been Superintendent of School District 6 in New Brunswick. A graduate of both Mount Allison University and the University of New Brunswick, he has been a member of the administrative team within District 6 since 1994, progressing through a series of promotions to the position of Superintendent. He began his career as a teacher at the Grand Manan High School in Grand Manan New Brunswick, moving next to Campobello Island before settling in the Sussex area.

Separate from his employment, Hopper has served in a volunteer capacity as a national trustee and Maritime president of Gideons International in Canada.

“I have noted the growing reputation and influence of Crandall University” Hopper said, “and am humbled by the invitation of the Board to lead Crandall at an important juncture in its growth.”

Hopper will take over from Dr. Brian MacArthur who has served as President for eleven years and will step down on December 31st.

“We are confident that the University will be well served by Mr. Hopper’s leadership in this interim period” continued Cook. He noted that Hopper’s appointment allows the Presidential Search Committee to continue its work while honouring Dr. MacArthur’s request to step down in December.
