Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

June 21, 2010

Shediac Bay Community Church

A large crowd gathered in Shediac on June 4th to witness the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Shediac Bay Community Church. It was a significant moment in the life of the church as they have recently gone through some significant changes – particularly the building of a new church and a new name. The goal of these changes is to be better equipped to share the love of Jesus to the community. As their website states, it is a “new location, new building, new focus and renewed hope.”

What made this type of ceremony unique is that the building is not yet completed and the church is meeting in a large tent for the summer. A ribbon cutting ceremony is often held after a building or business is completed and it says to the community that “We are open for business.” What is different here is that the church building is not ready but the church is saying to the community that “We are open for business…we are here to meet the needs of the community.”

Those taking part in the ceremony included many members of the church, Senior Pastor Rev. Brock Symonds, the mayor of Shediac Raymond Cormier, Dr. John Weiler (CABC, Regional Minster), Dr. Malcolm Beckett (CABC, Dir. of ABMB), Steven Campbell (Dir. Atlantic Baptist Senior Citizen’s Homes Inc) as well as representatives from the Atlantic Baptist Foundation and the construction companies. Visit the church’s website for more pictures from the day – www.hope4shediac.com.
