Winter Camps

January 9, 2015

winter-camp-tubingLooking outside we can no longer deny that winter has arrived. Snow, cold temperatures, icy roads, and did I mention the cold temperatures? Well, it won’t last and we can usually expect that it’s colder somewhere else. Rev. Jonathan Beers from Northern Cross Community Church in Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL, reported that a few days ago that the temp was -47 degrees. BRRRR!!

There are some great things happening this winter that we should be celebrating and supporting. One example is our camps owned by our churches and associations. Many of our 14 camps operate year round with retreats and winter camps in the fall and winter months. These camps offer some great opportunities to fellowship, be challenged and enjoy some winter activities.

One example is a boot camp for men happening at Camp Tulakadik (NB), February 19-22 (Thu-Sun). “Journey Boot Camp for Men” will be led by the “Wild at Heart” teachings of John Eldredge. Pastor Don has been involved in several boot camps in the past: “Journey Boot Camp isn’t just another men’s retreat. That’s the last thing anybody needs. This weekend is an honest journey into the deep passions and desires of a man’s heart, into the healing of the wounds he’s taken in this battle, into the realm of fatherhood and sex and God and calling – life as it was meant to be lived in Christ. Through the sessions, the times of quiet reflection, the movies, the adventures and the downtime, you will discover something profound about the heart of God and the heart he gave you as a man. Those who come say it is one of the greatest weekends of their entire life. Through Boot Camp I have seen, and experienced myself, hearts of men being healed, restored and made alive in Christ.” More info about this camp here: www.camptulakadik.com.

Our camps have an incredible legacy of impacting lives that have a direct impact on our churches and communities. Let’s do what we can to support them.
