Together We Have It All

October 16, 2015

ste-anne-01Église Évangélique Baptiste de Sainte Anne de Madawaska is one of our francophone churches located in Ste-Anne de Madawaska in the Northwestern Association of New Brunswick. In the summer of 2014, they were involved in the Acadian Congress by sponsoring rallies, offering food, and distributing 50,000 new testaments (more here: https://atlanticbaptist.ca/news/world-acadian-congress-2014/). The church has also benefited from missional initiative grants and capital grants from the Atlantic Baptist Mission Board. These grants are funded by giving to the CABC from our churches – if your church gave to the CABC, you helped make this possible. Thank you!

Here’s an update from the church and their pastor Rev. Dr. Lorne Freake:

ste-anne-02“With the help of the capital grant, renovations to make the stage bigger, make a sound booth and make a pastor’s office near the entrance has now been completed.”

ste-anne-04“With the introduction of Memorial Gifts, Pastor’s office furnishings have been purchased and nursery has been completely refurbished with new crib, rocker, change table and modernly redecorated. From outside of the church (through donations from neighbouring churches), a new set of kitchen cabinets has been purchased and installed (as the church did not have any kitchen cupboards), and we have collected enough funds to finally purchase a translation system (base and wireless transitors & and earphones) to translate into English our Sunday morning sermon in an effort to reach out to some area immigrants.”

“In mid September we had our “Célébration de Rentrée Scolaire” (Back to School Celebration) for the kids, with BBQ, corn boil, clowns, balloon animals, gospel magic show, etc., which was very well attended.”

ste-anne-05“September 27th was National Peace Officers Memorial Sunday. We had a Special Service for area First Responders. I serve as Volunteer Chaplain for Emergency Services Personnel here in the North West. Our local MLA, MP and Senator were all in attendance, along with some firefighters, police, Red Cross and 911 personnel – 77 people in all. We had read a list of the fallen, had a moment of silence, special prayers and blessings, the national anthem, AND some preaching of course (on the Syrian General Naaman) and a call and response at the end. As usual a great time of fellowship following the service. Media was present with press releases/articles in both French and English newspapers. Plans are already underway for next year’s service if the Lord tarries.”

“We are very thankful for the past financial and moral support of this French work in Northwestern New Brunswick from both CABC and the Northwest Association. Together we’re better or as someone has well said, ‘we don’t have it all together, but together we have it all’.”
