He may be well into his retirement, but that doesn’t mean his heart for people and the gospel has slowed down. Rev. Dr. John Bartol continues to find ways to engage his neighbours and share God’s unconditional love.
Ordained in 1955, he served several churches in the Atlantic Baptist family both before and after retirement, taught in the Lay Pastor Training Program, wrote three books (Life in Christ, To Mark from Uncle Barnabas, and What Means This Longing?) and has mentored many pastors and leaders. He is a spiritual father to many in our CBAC family and we are very thankful for his ministry.
For three years, John wrote weekly articles on the theme of Spiritual Fulfillment for The Valley Harvester, a weekly newspaper in the Annapolis Valley. All of his articles can be found on the website of Windsor Baptist Church – https://www.windsorbc.com/spiritual-fulfillment-articles. Sixty four articles about the search for happiness, our need for love and significance, does God answer prayer and more. Most were written by John and a few others written by Rev. Rob Heffernan, Rev. Dr. Anna Robbins, Rev. Dr. Roger Cann and others.
A few years ago we recorded John’s story particularly around resiliency and burnout he experienced early on in ministry and the effect it has had to today. You can watch the video here:
Some of John’s sermons are even posted online on Sermon Central. Read his profile here:
