New Director of Ethnic (Intercultural) Ministries

Director of Ethnic (Intercultural) Ministries

As you may know, the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches’ Council has been in process of searching for and interviewing candidates for senior staff positions. Today, I am pleased to give you advanced notice of our Council’s recommendation of Paul Carline in the position of part-time Director of Ethnic (Intercultural) Ministries. The Carline’s decision to remain in Canada rather than return to Kenya sparked the possibility for an exciting partnership with the CABC and with Canadian Baptist Ministries in the area of Intercultural Ministry. This is such a natural fit and we are thrilled with this opportunity and the possibilities of ministry in Atlantic Canada. To be finalized, Paul’s appointment with the CABC will be affirmed by delegates and voted on at Oasis in August. Below is the release from CBM:

Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Carline as a Strategic Associate, who will be working with the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches (CABC) as Director of Ethnic (Intercultural) Ministries.

For the past 17 years, Paul and Kelly Carline have been Global Field Staff with CBM, working primarily with Somali people in North Eastern Province in Kenya. Paul’s cross-cultural experience will be of great benefit as he helps Canadian churches extend hospitality and welcome to marginalized peoples in their neighbourhoods, including new Canadians and other cultural groups.

“I am thrilled that someone of Paul’s caliber, who has developed skills and experience in cross-cultural work overseas, can now offer that experience to Canadian churches as they seek to extend God’s love in an inter-cultural context”, says Rev. Sam Chaise, General Secretary.

“This is excellent news, I believe the partnership with Paul and with CBM in intercultural ministry in Atlantic Canada will greatly strengthen our churches and extend the Kingdom of God in new ways for us,” says Dr. Peter Reid, Executive Minister.

Paul will actively participate as a member of CABC staff. This appointment will be funded jointly by CBM and CABC.
