Link 2016 Recap

December 13, 2016

link-2016LINK 2016 was held at Bayside Camp, located in Sambro Head, just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was held the weekend of October 21-23. We had a group of 35 campers and 10 staff who attended and had a great time together. This year being at Bayside I recruited a couple of the counsellors, Rev. Shawn Kehoe and Allison Friers, who I worked with at Bayside back in the early 90’s. Also, Pastor René Robichaud drove a full bus load from Moncton and stayed as a counsellor. We also had Caleb Moore, Danielle Leger and Sarah MacDonald serve as counsellors. It was wonderful to see the great community and support that the campers and staff had with each other. One camper said to me that she wished LINK was a week-long camp.

The special speaker was Rev. Jon Dixon (son of Rev. Barry Dixon) who came to Christ in my cabin back in 1991 at Bayside during a Junior High Camp. He shared with us from the book of Daniel, about standing for God even when it might not be popular. He was able to connect and challenge the whole group in our walk with Jesus.

Our worship was led by Adam Moore and Faith leBouthillier, who did a great job of bringing us into the presence of God. Through the weekend we had a great night game, some went on the Zip-line, others studied for school, some took down time to just chill with each other and some played some different games in the lodge. Many of the teens took advantage of the roller skates during free time. Saturday night’s highlight is always the variety show where the talents of this amazing group of kids is showcased and you just never know what will happen or be shared. But is always a great time had by all. We ended the evening with a short fireworks display. On Sunday morning, I shared the message and René lead our communion as we committed ourselves to standing with Jesus, following His example and seeking to be His disciples in this world.

I want to say a great big thank you to the staff of Bayside Camp who cared for us, feed us very well and provided an excellent facility to host the retreat. Many of the teens said that they loved the facilities at Bayside.

Plans are already in process for LINK 2017, to be held at Camp Wildwood the weekend of October 13-15.
