Celebrating Oasis 2019

August 26, 2019

Oasis 2019 was one for the books.

In the wake of the 173rd annual gathering of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, we’re continuing to celebrate God’s goodness as we gathered to fellowship, worship, refresh, and vision together.

Over the course of three impactful days, Oasis attendees:

  • Worshiped with music from Christopher Diotte and band
  • Heard messages from keynote speakers Peter Reid and Bruxy Cavey
  • Voted on important family business
  • Caught up with old friends and made new friends
  • Took time for essential soul care

On top of all that, we officially launched four brand-new major projects for our CBAC family at Oasis 2019:

  • The Unexpected Leader Podcast, a brand new podcast from the Centre for Leadership Development. Co-hosts Garth Williams and Lois Mitchell are passionate about digging into the stories of CBAC ministry leaders who found themselves unexpectedly called into ministry. Available now on Apple Podcasts and the Google Play Store.
  • The Lighthouse Church Network, a group of churches who have stepped forward to help other churches who feel “stuck” but are passionate and driven to be effective Kingdom-builders. This is a project from the Centre for New Congregations.
  • A Fresh Expressions Toolkit, a rich resource located on our website that introduces us to the vision of Fresh Expressions of church and gives us some “straps and handles” for exploring this creative movement of doing church for people who aren’t interested in “traditional” church. This is a resource developed by the Centre for Congregational Renewal.
  • Walking In A Good Way With Indigenous Neighbours, a free online course intended to help Canadian Baptists learn to walk as good neighbours with our Indigenous people. This is one of the action items identified by the Indigenous Working Group (IWG) of the CBAC. A resolution from the IWG was passed at Oasis 2019.
