Portage Vale Baptisms

Pastor Robb & Christian

On August 30th, Portage Vale Baptist Church held its first baptism in twenty years. The last baptisms were in 1982 and 1985. Lay Pastor Robb Hunt had the privilege to baptize his son, Christian, along with a young woman, Jenne. “The opportunity to take part in administering a baptism, not just for my son, but for Jennie as well gives me a huge sense of humility. That God would not only command this to be done, but to then include me in the process is truly supernatural,” says Pastor Robb.

Normally, the river is only ankle deep this time of year but with the rainfall in recent months, the water was deep enough for a baptism the entire community could witness. “Only time will tell the impact this will have on the community. Patience as we allow the Holy Spirit to do his work. It was encouraging to see a number of people come to the church for the first time, and for some, to witness a baptism for the first time.”
