ADC’s New Director of Advancement

April 17, 2014

John CampbellAcadia Divinity College (ADC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. John Campbell to the role of Director of Advancement effective June 2, 2014.

“I am excited to welcome John to our Advancement Team and look forward to his leadership among us,” says Dr. Harry Gardner, President of Acadia Divinity College. “John comes to us having recently completed the Arrow Leadership Program. He has a great sense of who he is and how his gifts will combine to enable the College to fulfill its mission to equip Christian leaders. He will challenge and inspire those who are being called to serve traditional ministries in the church as well as lay persons who desire to enhance their leadership skills and biblical knowledge. And he will help us tell God’s story in the lives of students among us.”

Rev. Campbell joins ADC following his service as youth pastor at West End Baptist Church in St. John’s, NL, where he oversaw ministries focused on youth, young adults, and their families. Through his life and ministry experiences in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and beyond, John has developed a deep love for the people of Atlantic Canada and a passion for them to know Christ. John comes to ADC with a range of experiences that include communications, leadership, alumni relations, recruitment, and fundraising. Possessing a Bachelor of Computer Science (UNB 2004) and a Master of Divinity (Acadia 2007) as well as being a recent graduate of the Arrow Leadership Program (2014), John brings a wealth of knowledge and training to his new role.

As the Director of Advancement, Rev. Campbell’s portfolio will provide leadership in development and fundraising, facilitating the recruitment of students, overseeing all print and digital media communications, and revitalizing and reengaging our alumni.

“Acadia Divinity College is recognized for equipping Christian leaders,” says Rev. John Campbell. “The challenges of ministry today require leaders who have a deep faith, a rich understanding of theology, and the training to put it all into practice in their local context. ADC continues to train leaders in new and innovative ways to equip them with the education and experience they need to respond to the demands of ministry. I am humbled and excited to continue to serve God in this new role, and I am honoured to join the team at ADC. I look forward to developing a strong support base to allow our faculty to continue to provide high quality, relevant training for those entering Christian ministry. In addition, I expect to provide ongoing training and support for our alumni and others while they continue serving wherever God has called them.”

Acadia Divinity College is the official seminary of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches functioning within its evangelical tradition and drawing students from more than twenty denominations. It has one of the largest Doctor of Ministry programs in Canada and provides generous scholarships and bursaries to qualifying students across all its degree programs. The College serves as the Faculty of Theology of Acadia University which awards all of its degrees. All graduate degrees are approved by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.
