CBAC Council Recommends New Director of Youth & Family Ministries

October 15, 2019

On the recommendation of the Search Committee, the CBAC Council has announced that they unanimously approve and recommend Rev. Dan Pyke as the new Director of Youth & Family Ministries. We eagerly anticipate the leadership he will bring to this role in leading children, youth and family ministry in Atlantic Canada.

Rev. Dan Pyke has been ministering in CBAC churches since 2007; first as a part-time youth pastor at First Cornwallis Baptist in Upper Canard, NS, then as Pastor of Youth & Children at Douglas Baptist in NB and currently as Associate Pastor at Grand Bay Baptist. He has worked extensively with the Youth and Family Department at events such as Tidal Impact, Springforth, ONE Conference, and NEXT Conference.

Dan graduated from Crandall University with a BA in Sociology and Religious Studies and the Youth Leadership Certificate. He attended Acadia Divinity College for his M.Div. in Youth Ministry and an MA in Theology. Dan has also completed the Arrow Leadership Program. He was ordained at Douglas Baptist Church in 2011.

“I am thrilled to be joining the CBAC and providing leadership to our youth & family ministry. We have an amazing team of leaders joining God in their neighbourhoods and I look forward to seeing more of God’s transforming work.” says Dan.

Dr. Peter Reid, who participated in the search process, is pleased to announce this appointment:

“I am very excited to welcome Rev. Dan Pyke to our team. Dan has a great deal of experience working with the Youth & Family Department and brings a wealth of leadership strength, vision, and the ability to work well with others. This is wonderful news for the continuity of the Youth & Family Department and for the entire CBAC staff team.”

According to our General Operating Bylaw (Sec. 6.03 (d) ii), a Senior Staff position, which must ratified by the member churches of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, may be voted on by churches and the results submitted in writing to the Executive Minister, rather than waiting until a vote in person at our next annual gathering. The deadline for submitting votes is November 15th, 2019. Click on the link below to view information outlining the process. In order for it to pass, a 75% affirmative vote is required from reporting member churches.
