Special Masterclass: Political Not Partisan (Christians in Politics)

April 1 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm

Political not Partisan: Christian Engagement in an Age of Polarization

Jonathan Schut & Heather Peters (MCC)

An election provides us with an opportunity to consider the political implications of our values. Further, it provides us with an opportunity to think more deeply about how we show up in the world every day. How are Christians to engage with meaning during an election cycle? How do we have political conversations without falling into patterns of partisan division? While increasing polarization would have us to believe that we are worlds apart from those who think differently than we do, our shared humanity binds us closely together. What is the role of the Christian in challenging polarization? Join Jonathan Schut and Heather Peters from the Mennonite Central Committee as we consider questions of what it means for followers of Jesus to engage peacefully with their communities during this election season.

Christians in Politics – A Special Masterclass Series

In a cultural moment marked by political polarization and increasingly global tension, pastors face the unique challenge of guiding their congregations through complex societal issues while preserving unity and peace within the church. ‘Christians in Politics’ is a special CBAC Masterclass Series designed to empower church leaders to navigate the current political moment with biblical wisdom, compassion, and integrity.

This series offers practical strategies for addressing divisive topics, fostering respectful dialogue among diverse perspectives, and leading congregations toward a Christ-centered response to today’s political climate. Participants will explore the role of Christians in politics, theological frameworks for civic engagement, and tools for promoting unity without compromising core values.

Through sessions led by CBAC friends and family, these sessions will aim to equip leaders to be peacemakers, bridge-builders, and faithful witnesses in a divided world.
