Transition in Our CBAC Youth & Family Team

June 20, 2025

The Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC) announced today that Laura Bennett will complete her ministry as Associate Director of Youth & Family Ministries effective September 30th, 2025, while continuing in her role as Coordinator of Justice & Advocacy through December 1, 2026.

Laura Bennett has served faithfully as Associate Director of Youth & Family and Coordinator of Justice & Advocacy in a part-time capacity with the CBAC since March 2021. Laura’s last day in the Youth and Family role will be September 30, 2025, following a full and meaningful summer of ministry, including walking with students and leaders through Tidal Impact and launching the fall. We are so grateful that Laura will see these important moments through with care and excellence before she wraps up this part of her work.

The good news is that Laura isn’t going far. She will continue with the CBAC in her role as Coordinator of Justice & Advocacy (10 hrs/week) through December 1, 2026, giving leadership to the next Justice Summit in November 2026 and helping us discern what the future holds for that ministry area.

Laura is also following a new call—becoming a student again, pursuing a Master of Arts in Theology at Acadia Divinity College, focusing on justice. Laura and her family are also discerning what it means to invest in the place, the neighbourhoods, where they live in Prince Edward Island. We’re excited to see how God will continue to use her gifts and passion as she grows deeper in this calling.

CBAC Executive Minister, Renée MacVicar, says, “Laura has made a deep impact in our Youth & Family ministry. She’s helped build depth in leaders through the Trellis resource, offered consistent support through Youth & Family social media and networking, and contributed to exceptional events that have helped shape leaders and the next generation. She’s been a key leader and support to our CBAC team and a true friend to so many leaders across Atlantic Canada. I’m excited to see what God brings about as Laura focuses even more on her heart for justice in our world.”

We will begin the search for a new CBAC Associate Director of Youth & Family soon, and we invite your prayers for discernment in this process.

Dan Pyke, CBAC’s Director of Youth & Family shares: “It has been an incredible privilege to share this ministry with Laura for several years. Her deep love for Jesus and the church has equipped her to lead with excellence, wisdom, and compassion. Laura has faithfully led our events and has encouraged and mentored many leaders and young adults along the way. I will miss serving with her but am genuinely excited to see where God continues to lead as she follows God’s leading in her life.”

And now, a word from Laura herself: “My time with CBAC YF has been a privilege and a joy! To come alongside some of the most brilliant, faithful, Christ-filled leaders and witness how God is moving in the Next Generation across Atlantic Canada is work I am abundantly grateful for. The CBACyf community is such a fun and special group! Thank you, friends, for the opportunity to champion and support you over these last four years!”

We are so thankful for Laura’s contribution on the CBAC team and ask you to join us in cheering her on in this new season.

With gratitude,
The CBAC Team
