Some things to be thankful for

October 10, 2025

Dear CBAC family,

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend, my heart is full of gratitude for all that God is doing among us as the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada.

I’m deeply thankful for the amazing network of pastors, leaders, and churches across Atlantic Canada who continue to be fountains of hope in their communities. Every story, every act of care, every faithful sermon, every movement towards justice, and every hope-filled prayer reminds me that hope is truly overflowing among us.

Just last weekend, we saw God’s hand at work through The Wayfinding Project, where 28 high school students came together to listen for God’s voice and discern next steps in their journey. And next week, we’ll gather for CBAC Echo—with 82 participants beginning to explore God’s call on their lives, alongside 24 pastors who will walk and pray with them. These moments give me such hope for the future of our churches and leaders.

I’m still grateful for the afterglow of Oasis 2025, and for the way that hope continues to spill from that gathering into every region of Atlantic Canada. God is at work in and through our CBAC family in such beautiful ways.

As Paul writes to the Colossians,

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful… And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Colossians 3:15–17)

As we give thanks, let’s also lift our prayers together—for rain to come and forest fires to be stopped and extinguished, for safety and provision for those affected, and for our pastors and churches as they gather this weekend to worship and give thanks for God’s goodness. May we truly be a people of hope.

We’ve also created a short video celebrating what it means to be part of the CBAC family and what God is doing in our midst. I encourage you to share it with your church family sometime over this season.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him…” (Romans 15:13)

With gratitude and overflowing hope,

Rev. Renée MacVicar
Executive Minister
Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada
