SUMMARY:Lay Learning Labs – February 2026
DESCRIPTION:CBAC Leadership Development presents Lay Learning Labs\, an accessible and practical resource for lay leaders. Whether you’re a treasurer\, clerk\, small group/Sunday school leader\, the Lay Learning Lab is designed to help each congregation’s lay leaders grow and lead in this current moment. \nThe sessions will be held on Zoom from 6:30-7:30pm\, each covering various topics. Please note that they take place concurrently; you can only choose one each night. \n \n \n \n \n \n February Lab options\n \n \n \n \n \n Greg Jones – Understanding the Pastor-Congregation Relationship\n Please tell me … Does the pastor tell the Deacons what to do\, or do the Deacons tell the Pastor what to do?” This was the question raised one night when I and one of my colleagues were at a rather lively congregational meeting\, and it touches on a key question. What is the role\, responsibility\, and relationship of a pastor to his or her congregation\, and particularly to those in leadership? This learning lab will explore pastor-congregation relations\, considering matters such as the call process itself\, giving leadership while being accountable to the congregation\, working through conflict\, and how to resign well. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n This field is hidden when viewing the formEvent TitleThis field is hidden when viewing the formEvent DateThis field is hidden when viewing the formDate\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n \n Enter Email\n \n \n \n Confirm Email\n \n \n Church(Required)What role do you serve in the church?(Required)February 23\n \n Greg Jones – Understanding the Pastor-Congregation Relationship\n March 30\n \n Hannah Marriott – Growing Global Disciples\n \n \n Heather Bell-Williams – Help Me Manage! SUMMARY:Masterclass - February 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Mission of God in a Changing World\nAs the centre of Christianity shifts to the majority world\, churches in the West must assume postures of partnership and humility that may feel unfamiliar. We will explore how mission today is being shaped by multiple cultures and contexts\, inviting us to listen\, learn\, and serve alongside the global church. \nJennifer Lau began her tenure as Executive Director of Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) in 2020. She has served with CBM since 2002 in various capacities\, primarily providing strategic direction for all of CBM’s partnerships and initiatives in North America. Prior to becoming the Executive Director\, she served as the Associate Executive Director\, where she was responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations. She also created CBM’s Mosaic Magazine and served as its Managing Editor for over a decade. In addition to her work with CBM\, Jennifer served as a Vice-President of the Baptist World Alliance from 2020-2025. \nMasterclass is a series of events from our CBAC Leadership Development department\, seeking the transformation of our CBAC leaders through continued learning from world-class speakers. Sponsored by Crandall University.

SUMMARY:Temporary Shepherds (Kentville)
DESCRIPTION:Temporary Shepherds\nHelping Churches Become Healthier in Times of Pastoral Transitions\nA time of pastoral transition can be an opportunity for a church to experience greater health and mission awareness. The chances of the church experiencing new health and vitality in a pastoral transition period are stronger if the church has someone serving as a temporary shepherd who has a heart for the church and understands the transition process. \nTo that end\, Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada is offering a workshop for anyone interested in interim ministry. This workshop\, led and facilitated by Dr. Gordon Sutherland\, will benefit those who may be considering serving as an interim. It would also be of benefit to anyone who is already serving as an interim\, as your experience and insights will be a valuable addition to our discussions. \nIn this one-day workshop\, we will explore what a church needs in the way of pastoral leadership during a pastoral transition. We will discuss the advantages of serving in an interim role and examine the challenges interim pastors face. We will identify key core skills and examine ethical issues that every interim pastor must know how to handle. \nAs part of our discussion\, we will look at a number of assessment tools which can be helpful in guiding the church to better understand itself and its mission. \nThis one-day workshop is being offered in four locations. Please note the correct dates: \n\nTuesday\, April 14 at Kentville Baptist Church (Kentville\, NS)\nWednesday\, April 15 at Birch Cove Baptist Church (Halifax\, NS)\nTuesday\, May 5 at New Hope Community Church (Moncton\, NB)\nWednesday\, May 6 at Oromocto Baptist Church (Oromocto\, NB)\n\nThe workshops will be from 9:00am to 4:00pm\, and lunch will be provided as part of the $30 registration cost. If cost is a barrier or you have further questions\, please contact Greg Jones.

SUMMARY:Lay Learning Labs – April 2026
DESCRIPTION:CBAC Leadership Development presents Lay Learning Labs\, an accessible and practical resource for lay leaders. Whether you’re a treasurer\, clerk\, small group/Sunday school leader\, the Lay Learning Lab is designed to help each congregation’s lay leaders grow and lead in this current moment. \nThe sessions will be held on Zoom from 6:30-7:30pm\, each covering various topics. Please note that they take place concurrently; you can only choose one each night. \n \n \n \n \n \n April Lab options\n \n \n \n \n \n Reneé MacVicar – Messy Grace & Truth \n Messy Grace and Truth – How the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) resource could help your church.\nWhile CBAC holds to a traditional biblical understanding of marriage\, we also have a deep desire to be gracious\, welcoming\, and loving toward all people who enter our churches. This learning lab will give you a taste of the SOGI resource to help you consider how to faithfully express convictions in a world full of differing perspectives and how to lead and love like Jesus in your context.\n \n \n \n \n \n Dan Pyke – International Belonging for Youth\n As our communities become more diverse\, many churches are asking how to meaningfully welcome and include young people from different cultural backgrounds. This Lay Learning Lab explores how to cultivate genuine belonging for internationally connected youth—not just through programs\, but through the life of the church—by reflecting on a biblical vision of belonging\, considering the experiences of newcomer and multicultural youth\, and identifying practical ways to grow more hospitable and relational ministries. \n \n \n \n \n \n Jeneanne Ohlhauser – Conversaton Café\n Conversation Cafe is a P2C Connecting Streams ministry where a church welcomes international people from their congregation or community who are in need of help improving their English. The goal is to provide a supportive atmosphere where people can enhance their conversational abilities without fear of making errors\, all while being introduced to Jesus and His teachings. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This field is hidden when viewing the formEvent TitleThis field is hidden when viewing the formEvent DateThis field is hidden when viewing the formDate\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n \n Enter Email\n \n \n \n Confirm Email\n \n \n Church(Required)What role do you serve in the church?(Required)February 23\n \n Greg Jones – Understanding the Pastor-Congregation Relationship\n March 30\n \n Hannah Marriott – Growing Global Disciples\n \n \n Heather Bell-Williams – Help Me Manage! SUMMARY:Temporary Shepherds (Moncton)

SUMMARY:Masterclass - May 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Future of Denominations: Leading with Hope in a Changing Landscape\nDenominations are navigating profound cultural\, generational\, and structural shifts. Yet in the midst of all this change\, there is also deep opportunity. In this Masterclass\, we’ll take an honest look at the trends shaping the future of denominational life and explore what it means to lead with a posture of hope. Drawing on research\, experience\, and stories from around the globe\, we will consider how adaptive leadership\, collaborative polycentric mission\, and renewed clarity of purpose can strengthen our churches for the next generation. Together\, we’ll reflect on what we may need to release\, what we must reimagine\, and what we are called to renew so that our shared ministry continues to overflow with hope. This Masterclass is designed to encourage and spark practical imagination for pastors and leaders who are faithfully serving in this changing moment. \nMasterclass is a series of events from our CBAC Leadership Development department\, seeking the transformation of our CBAC leaders through continued learning from world-class speakers. Together\, we’ll explore how biblical hospitality\, presence\, and faithfulness often shape hearts more deeply than hype or production value. \n \n \n \n \n \n Gordon Dickinson – Clear & Compelling Communication\n Learn essential communication tools and skills to engage your congregation\, get the word out\, and enhance your church’s impact. \n \n \n \n \n \n Laura Bennett – Justice\n Description coming soon \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This field is hidden when viewing the formEvent TitleThis field is hidden when viewing the formEvent DateThis field is hidden when viewing the formDate\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n \n Enter Email\n \n \n \n Confirm Email\n \n \n Church(Required)What role do you serve in the church?(Required)February 23\n \n Greg Jones – Understanding the Pastor-Congregation Relationship\n March 30\n \n Hannah Marriott – Growing Global Disciples\n \n \n Heather Bell-Williams – Help Me Manage! SUMMARY:Masterclass - June 2026
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Frameworks for Healing and Repair with Indigenous Neighbours\nWhat would it look like for churches to become places skilled in the art of repair?  \nThere were specific decisions made theologically in the processes of colonization that have left us without some of the tools and skills we need to do this important work. Churches are being called to reckon more honestly with our histories\, and our roles in systems that have caused harm. But many of us are overwhelmed and don’t know how to take the next steps in a journey of reconciliation.  \nIn this Masterclass\, we will draw on the theological and ethical framework developed in Mend: An Invitation from Jesus to Return to Land-based Repair. This session invites participants into a deeper engagement with the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19 and how we can address the needs of right relationship in our own communities\, whether we are in touch with Indigenous neighbours or not. We will also explore new frameworks for leaving a lasting legacy when churches are facing closure. \nJodi Spargur lives on unceded Coast Salish territories in the city of Vancouver\, where she has worked as a farmer\, pastor\, and catalyzer for justice and healing between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples. After completing an MDiv at Regent College in 2003 she pastored and church planted with the CBWC in Vancouver and in 2015 launched Red Clover Initiatives\, a non-profit network fostering Indigenous-led local actions for healing\, justice\, and right relations. Jodi is currently a PhD candidate with NAIITS: An Indigenous Learning Community\, exploring Indigenous theology and Christian ethics. When not working Jodi finds renewal on the land—fishing\, camping\, and tending the places that continue to inspire her work. \nMasterclass is a series of events from our CBAC Leadership Development department\, seeking the transformation of our CBAC leaders through continued learning from world-class speakers. Sponsored by Crandall University. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Please register to receive a Zoom link \n \n This field is hidden when viewing the formEvent TitleThis field is hidden when viewing the formEvent DateName(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n \n Enter Email\n \n \n \n Confirm Email\n \n \n Church(Required)Staff Position(Required)\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ
