SUMMARY:Masterclass - February 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Mission of God in a Changing World\nAs the centre of Christianity shifts to the majority world\, churches in the West must assume postures of partnership and humility that may feel unfamiliar. We will explore how mission today is being shaped by multiple cultures and contexts\, inviting us to listen\, learn\, and serve alongside the global church. \nJennifer Lau began her tenure as Executive Director of Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) in 2020. She has served with CBM since 2002 in various capacities\, primarily providing strategic direction for all of CBM’s partnerships and initiatives in North America. Prior to becoming the Executive Director\, she served as the Associate Executive Director\, where she was responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations. She also created CBM’s Mosaic Magazine and served as its Managing Editor for over a decade. In addition to her work with CBM\, Jennifer served as a Vice-President of the Baptist World Alliance from 2020-2025. \nMasterclass is a series of events from our CBAC Leadership Development department\, seeking the transformation of our CBAC leaders through continued learning from world-class speakers. Sponsored by Crandall University.

What is the role\, responsibility\, and relationship of a pastor to his or her congregation\, and particularly to those in leadership? This learning lab will explore pastor-congregation relations\, considering matters such as the call process itself\, giving leadership while being accountable to the congregation\, working through conflict\, and how to resign well. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This field is hidden when viewing the formEvent TitleThis field is hidden when viewing the formEvent DateThis field is hidden when viewing the formDate\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n \n Enter Email\n \n \n \n Confirm Email\n \n \n Church(Required)What role do you serve in the church?(Required)February 23\n \n Greg Jones – Understanding the Pastor-Congregation Relationship\n March 30\n \n Hannah Marriott – Growing Global Disciples\n \n \n Heather Bell-Williams – Help Me Manage! SUMMARY:Masterclass - January 2026
DESCRIPTION:Holy Pixels: Navigating the Future of AI and the Local Church\nFrom the pew to the pulpit\, AI is everywhere. SUMMARY:Masterclass – November 2025
DESCRIPTION:Moral scandals and toxic church culture reveal the evil within us. This Masterclass explores markers of healthy church leadership among Canadian churches\, as drawn from a 2024 study of 31 congregations using Jim Collins’ good-to-great framework. These findings engage theologically with Scot McKnight and Laura Barringer’s work on harm caused by unhealthy church structures and narcissistic leaders. Finally\, the practice of presence is promoted as an embodied posture exemplifying goodness in Canadian church leadership. This research offers practical insights for developing virtue-centered leadership that resists toxicity and cultivates flourishing congregational life. \nElizabeth Millar (Doctor of Practical Theology) is a Research Fellow at the Canadian Institute for Empirical Church Research – Wycliffe College (University of Toronto) and conducted the “Greatness” in Canadian Congregations research study in 2024-25. She also works as a spiritual director\, a mentor for students at two Canadian seminaries\, and the Storyteller for Vision Ministries Canada. Elizabeth lives on Prince Edward Island with her family. \nMasterclass is a series of events from our CBAC Leadership Development department\, seeking the transformation of our CBAC leaders through continued learning from world-class speakers. Sponsored by Crandall University.

SUMMARY:Fall Pastors Retreat
DESCRIPTION:A spiritual retreat is an invitation to grow in freedom of spirit and openness to God. \nA spiritual retreat is not stopping all activity\, but a change of activity. It is an intense focus on a particular activity—seeking God. It is an intentional moving away from daily routine to draw closer to God in solitude and/or in community. It involves the practice of spiritual disciplines\, such as spiritual reading\, silence\, and prayer as pathways to greater intimacy with God\, self and others. \nA spiritual retreat provides an opportunity for pastors to connect deeply with God\, themselves and each other. These retreats are a combination of group and individual retreat time. Each retreat has a theme that helps to guide the retreat but it is the participants and the Holy Spirit that shape the retreat experience. \nThis year\, bursaries provided by the Atlantic Baptist Foundation have reduced the cost from $250 to $175\, or $125 for first-time attendees. \nThe retreat is 4 days / 3 nights at Bayside Camp\, Sambro Head\, NS. Accommodations are one person per room. It is a modern camp style with one bunk bed per room with a small table\, chair and lamp. Bring own bedding\, towels\, etc. Please arrive by 1:00pm on Monday; the retreat will end before lunch on Thursday. \nRegistration deadline: October 22 \n \n Registration has closed

This Masterclass offers a dynamic introduction to Theo-Futures Thinking\, a practical\, theological framework designed to equip leaders to explore\, anticipate\, and respond to emerging trends shaping the future of the Church. \nTogether\, we will explore how theological reflection and foresight tools can inform faithful leadership amid uncertainty. SUMMARY:(FULL) Spring 2025 Sozo Pastor's Retreat
DESCRIPTION:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This retreat is now full\nWatch for information about the next Sozo retreat\, coming November 3-6. Contact Cheryl Ann Beals for more info about Sozo Centre.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n A Spiritual Retreat is not stopping all activity\, but a change of activity. \nA spiritual retreat is an invitation to grow in freedom of spirit and openness to God. \nSpiritual Retreats for Pastors. The retreat is 4 days / 3 nights at Bayside Camp\, Sambro Head\, NS \nThis year bursaries provided by the Atlantic Baptist Foundation have reduced the cost from $250 to $175\, or $125 for first-time attendees. \nAccommodations are one person per room. It is a modern camp style with one bunk bed per room with a small table\, chair and lamp. Bring own bedding\, towels\, etc. \n \n Retreat is now full
